Axis or Malibu? Which boat am I going with?
Category : boat
When a person is looking to purchase a boat they have in their mind already what they are looking for even before the first foot step outside the house. Is this going to be a fishing boat? Maybe a cruiser to tool around in? Will this boat be in rough seas or maybe the calmness of a lake? How many people will be aboard? Just a single person or maybe the entire family plus friends? I already have what I want in mind for sure. Even down to the specifics. So what am I looking for in a boat? I am sure many of you are all ready aware of this, but let us go through it anyways.
I am an active person and I love the water. More specifically, I love being active on the water and when I mean active, I mean any activity that requires physical energy to get the blood pumping. Surfing, kayaking, and paddle boarding are what I currently enjoy now. In the past it was slalom skiing, barefooting, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding. I have decided what the main function of my boat will be is to a tow boat, a boat that will pull me and whoever wants to join me in getting up on skis, being slung around on a tube, catching air on a wakeboard, or surfing on an endless wave.
There are all kind of boats that can do the majority of what I want it to do but if you know me, you know I put all my energy into everything I do. My boat will be towing more than it will be cruising and that person that probably will be in the water the most and being pulled trying new tricks, will probably be me. This boat will be a work horse and it will need to have the performance and flexibility to give me what I need for producing the ideal conditions for my water activities. The best boat for me is an inboard built specifically for towing a skier, wakeboarder, or wakesurfer.
Now that I have the type of boat I want, the next is to narrow it down to brand, model, and budget. As I begin my research I have the following criteria:
- V-drive Inboard
- Wake tower
- Tower speakers
- Wakesurfing options
- Room for family
After lots of reading of reviews and browsing many sites I have come up with two brands, Malibu and Axis. With each brand of I have narrowed it down to year and models.
These boats offer everything I am looking for and then some. They are the top of the class in my opinion and will make our family experience on the water truly special with each launch. The search will begin early next year as winter winds down and spring kicks in. I will keep you posted as I go out and find my perfect gem so stay tune. Also, if you have any specific questions on why I chose these brands or models please comment below with your questions and I will answer them.
